food insecurity

Military families are going hungry—let’s stand with them.

Our service members stand ready for any mission. Their families sacrifice every day so our nation remains safe and free. Yet right now, countless military families are facing an urgent, hidden crisis—a lack of food on the table.

Military families already face food insecurity at alarming rates. Because of the ongoing federal government shutdown, many are enduring delayed paychecks and rising financial strain. Stronghold Food Pantry—our trusted partner—has seen a 300% increase in requests for help at its brick-and-mortar location in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas as more military households find themselves food-insecure.

“That’s nearly a 9x increase in our application rate, and it reflects both the urgent need families are facing during the government shutdown and the trust they place in us to stand in the gap with dignity and compassion,” says Monica Bassett, founder and CEO of Stronghold Food Pantry.

These are families who have already given so much. They’ve relocated countless times, endured deployments, and supported their loved ones through service—now they’re wondering how they’ll feed their children tonight.

That’s why Uncommon Grit Foundation has launched a Virtual Paddle Raise to stand beside them.
